With its variety of beautiful settings – from green meadows to hilltops with mountain and river views to Marble Hall and Pavilion – Lakeshore Park provides the perfect environment for your party or special event.
The Hank Rappé Playground is a universal playground designed to be inclusive for children of every ability and includes a resilient surface, multiple play areas and special equipment. It is named in memory of Hank Rappé, the son of Dr. Matt and Brandy Rappé, who passed away on April 5, 2013 – two days before his first Knox Youth Sports tee-ball game at Lakeshore Park.
The Huie Woodland Playground is a unique, nature-themed playground nestled in the woods at the northeast portion of Lakeshore Park. Donated by benefactors Ann and Joe Huie, this discovery-oriented playground is meant to immerse children in nature while providing a host of features that promote unprescribed and imaginative play. The playground features a 12-foot embankment slide, boulder scramble, log ladder, a log stack, log tunnel, play hut, circle, swings, and see-saw.
Tower Playground offers children aged 5-12 with opportunities to climb, slide, swing, and traverse. The playground comprises three centerpiece wooden towers that introduce height and challenge at varying levels. Additional play features include swings, log steppers and a log stack, boulders, spinners, and a spiderweb cube. The Tower Pavilion sits above the playground and is available for rent.
This smaller, more intimate play space is perfect for those hoping to escape the crowds. Play structures include swings, a climbing structure, multiple slides, play boulders, and an ADA accessible safety surface.
Adjacent to the playground is the Central Pavilion, restrooms, and the McCamy Family Fitness Center.
