Simon Bradbury, a strategic parks and recreation executive with more than 25 years of leadership in the field, will assume the position of CEO executive director of Lakeshore Park Conservancy next month. The conservancy manages the operations of Lakeshore Park, which the City of Knoxville owns in the Bearden area of west Knoxville.
Bradbury has been director of parks and recreation for the Tellico Village Homeowners Association in Loudon, Tenn., for the past 10 years. Prior to that, Bradbury, a U.S. Navy veteran, was assistant director of parks and recreation for the City of Pigeon Forge and has worked in management with a whitewater rafting operation and Court South Total Conditioning Clubs.
He replaces longtime Lakeshore Park executive director Julieanne Foy who plans to retire later this summer.
“We are thrilled to have Simon join our team,” said Dee Haslam, chair of the Conservancy’s board of directors and head of the search committee that selected Bradbury for the position. “His experience and enthusiasm for conservation will be an invaluable asset as we continue to serve our community with excellence.
“Simon’s passion for preserving natural spaces aligns perfectly with Lakeshore Park’s mission to protect and enhance our environment for future generations,” she said. “His leadership and dedication will help expand our programs, strengthen community connections, and maintain the beauty of our park.”
“In my profession, parks and recreation, Lakeshore Park is an absolute gem,” Bradbury said. “In addition to preserving a remarkable piece of land, it provides a wide variety of forms of recreation and appeals to all different demographics. It’s remarkable the thought that went into this. My job is to protect it.”
