Lakeshore Park
Master Plan

Phase 2 Part 1 Improvements

The Phase 2 Improvements in the Park are based on the Updated Master Plan for Lakeshore Park which was prepared by Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects and approved by City Council in 2020 after a lengthy public input process.

“This starts another exciting chapter in the development of Lakeshore Park,” said Dee Haslam, the Board Chair of the Lakeshore Park Conservancy. “The park is already a great place to visit, and the Phase 2 work will include renovation of some existing improvements and construction of even more opportunities for outdoor recreation.”

The first part of the Phase 2 improvements will be located in the southwest quadrant of the park and will include a new baseball complex, soccer area walkways and parking, pickleball courts, a basketball court and a sports green and seating area for small meetings. The improvements also include a 35-foot high sculptural mound, a new playground, three new pavilions, relocation of some sections of the perimeter walking trail, renovation of the Hecht Pavilion restrooms and new parking, sidewalks and lighting.

Construction of the Phase 2, Part 1 improvements is expected to be complete by early 2024. The park will remain open throughout construction, but some areas of the park will be closed for construction, and the Northshore entrance road will be closed for several months.
