Lakeshore Park is starting the process of removing turf grasses and invasive plants in the fenced-in area near the river. This is the initial step in replacing mown lawn with a warm season meadow, which will reduce our carbon footprint and provide habitats for insects, birds and other animals in the park. Do you know about all of the entities that have a Do you know about all of the entities that have a hand in operations and activities at Lakeshore Park? 

Lakeshore Park is a City of Knoxville park that also houses the Parks and Recreation Department in the administration building. They handle some of the grass mowing, maintaining some of the restrooms, inspecting the playgrounds, and give us the rules and ordinances to govern the park according to City standards. 

Knox Youth Sports is housed in the TVA Pavilion and runs youth baseball, softball, lacrosse and flag football. They maintain the diamond fields, the pavilion concession stand, some of the restrooms and other parts of the park. AYSO and the Knoxville Football Club program and maintain the soccer/rectangular fields.

The Lakeshore Park Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose mission is to manage, preserve, and enhance the Park and to build a community dedicated to conserving the Park for the future. As the caretaker of Lakeshore Park, the Conservancy provides operational funding for daily maintenance. This includes landscaping and custodial services as well as conservation and preservation efforts. The capital construction projects in the Park are privately funded, but all of the operating, maintenance and staff costs for the Park come from donations and revenue from facility rentals (see link in our bio on how to donate or book an event).

All of these organizations together help contribute to making Lakeshore Park a beautiful and active place to play!

This hard-working crew mulched tree rings, cleaned a drainage ditch, trimmed the Arctic Fire dogwoods and pulled weeds, and tilled, mulched and planted 600 various species of daylilies in the new flower bed by the Rustic Pavilion! Everyone will be able to enjoy the blooms from spring through fall for years to come.

Celebrate Earth Day this Saturday, April 22 by com Celebrate Earth Day this Saturday, April 22 by coming to the Talahi Plant Sale at the Marble Hall at Lakeshore Park! This event is open to the public from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. 

Between the plant sale and youth sports, the park will be extremely busy - please plan to carpool if possible, and please only park in designated parking spaces and not on the grass. Take advantage of the beautiful weather and park in the gravel lot by the administration building and then walk down to the baseball fields and plant sale! Our very small outdoor staff works extremely hard to keep our grass and parking lot medians looking beautiful.
Have you seen the newest facility at Lakeshore Par Have you seen the newest facility at Lakeshore Park? Completed this winter, the new Rustic Pavilion is decked out in spring blooms and ready to host your events! Available for $50 an hour, this new picnic shelter just south of the baseball diamonds is a great spot for small parties, birthdays, or whatever else you can think of! It has four accessible picnic tables and a charcoal grill, and is just a short walk from the parking lot, Hank Rappรฉ Playground, and restrooms.

Grading and smoothing in the Administration Buildi Grading and smoothing in the Administration Building parking lot is continuing throughout the week at Lakeshore Park. Please plan to park in any of the other various parking lots for the remainder of the week!
Thank you to the City of Knoxville for installing Thank you to the City of Knoxville for installing the new electric vehicle charging stations in Lakeshore Park. These are available to the public to use (charge your vehicle while you take a stroll in the park!) and are located on west side of the parking lot between the Marble Pavilion and the baseball diamonds.
In order to smooth out the rough surface and fill In order to smooth out the rough surface and fill a number of potholes, the gravel parking lot behind the Administration Building will be closed tomorrow, ๐—ง๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜†, ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ต ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿด. Park users should plan to use any of the other parking lots available in Lakeshore Park to avoid construction equipment and dust. The parking lot will reopen on Wednesday, March 29.

Friends are a circle of donors who are committed to  the maintenance of our extraordinary urban park along the Tennessee River. The annual ๐—Ÿ๐—ฎ๐—ธ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฃ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ธ ๐—ฃ๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฐ is just over two months away, and there's still time to get in on the fun at our summer party as an event sponsor or participating restaurant! Get involved at a variety of levels for everything from general sponsors, to fireworks, to entertainment. There are also opportunities for restaurants and caterers to provide the curated picnic baskets (or cook on site!) for picnic-goers to purchase.

Grading and smoothing in the Administration Buildi Grading and smoothing in the Administration Building parking lot is continuing throughout the week at Lakeshore Park. Please plan to park in any of the other various parking lots for the remainder of the week!
Thank you to the City of Knoxville for installing Thank you to the City of Knoxville for installing the new electric vehicle charging stations in Lakeshore Park. These are available to the public to use (charge your vehicle while you take a stroll in the park!) and are located on west side of the parking lot between the Marble Pavilion and the baseball diamonds.
In order to smooth out the rough surface and fill In order to smooth out the rough surface and fill a number of potholes, the gravel parking lot behind the Administration Building will be closed tomorrow, ๐—ง๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฑ๐—ฎ๐˜†, ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฐ๐—ต ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿด. Park users should plan to use any of the other parking lots available in Lakeshore Park to avoid construction equipment and dust. The parking lot will reopen on Wednesday, March 29.

Friends are a circle of donors who are committed to  the maintenance of our extraordinary urban park along the Tennessee River. Entry to the park is always free to the public, and we depend on donations from people like you to support the ongoing daily maintenance and staff that manage the park. Every little bit counts and we would love to welcome you as a Friend of Lakeshore Park!
